RPP Welcomes Junior and Senior Fellows

The Center for Religion, the Professions, and the Public has welcomed its second cadre of senior and junior fellows. Representing the disciplines of business, engineering, medicine, religious studies, and social work, fellows will spend the spring semester conducting research, writing, and participating in a weekly, interdisciplinary seminar.

Senior fellows are scholars and practitioners who have come from as far as Australia and as close as across the MU campus, while the junior fellows are drawn from MU's graduate and professional schools.

"The Center is pleased to support the work of this diverse and energetic group of scholars," said RPP director Edmund Lambeth. "We look forward to the exchange of ideas and the creation of new knowledge that will occur over the next few months."

The fellows and MU faculty colleagues are focused on projects that enhance professional education and skills in the areas of religious and cultural diversity and professional ethics.

New Course Examines Journalism, Religion, and Public Life

A new course at MU—cross-listed by Journalism, the Truman School of Public Affairs, and the Honors College—is exploring the religious and ethical dimensions of current issues facing society. How well journalists cover the social, political, and international dimensions of these issues is important not only to Americans and new American immigrants but to others across the globe. Dr. Edmund Lambeth, RPP director and Journalism Professor Emeritus, developed and is teaching the course.
